Main Speaker

Dr. Brian Donahue, Brandeis University Environmental Historian and one of the founders of Land’s Sake Farm in Weston, MA spoke about “the future of food farming in New England.”

We can grow….

·         More of the produce

·         Most of the dairy products

·         Some of the grain and feed

·         Much of the poultry, pork & eggs

But we need your help!

The Future

A sustainable food system in Amherst should promote family, neighborhood and regional self-sufficiency by supporting local farmers and markets, encouraging more backyard gardens and small livestock, and creating rooftop food gardens on public buildings.
